rouser 135 lower body kit

oh the joys of tying the knot with a loved one! and it gets more romantic when you include your modern-day horse in the memories and the celebration!

one of the 2012 projects completed is this lower fairing kit for the Kawasaki Rouser 135. it’s a 4-

piece kit consisting of left/right side covers, front spoiler, and the belly pan.

paint jobs pretty cool too, smooth even without the topcoat. wasn’t able to have the exact colour custom made though because of the wedding date and everybody’s in a bit of a rush, but the difference in shade isn’t really that obvious.

to be honest it took me quite a while to figure out nice curves and design lines that would blend this kit into the stock design. but i guess the wait was all worth it!

and oh yeah, girls will definitely be eyeing guys who drive one of these.

spade 1

remember this from the rebelsport archives article? it was a project of not-so-long-ago, 2010 haha… but i’m still using mine actually and another post to come for my Spade 2 — really soon.

well, i dug these up from my ‘electronic’ attic, the original spade 1 project for 125cc… photo above, left side, that’s the 125cc version. tail and tank are the same, only the railing had some small differences. i did this body design for a race buddy in dasmarinas cavite, smooth paint job.

and really we msx 125 owners can’t get enough of this old bike, presently the owner beefed up the 125cc engine to a bloating 200cc plus highway eater!

rusi group 1 upper body kit

another kit fully completed and several installed with my bike buddies in late 2010 and early 2011, the rusi group 1, upper body kit.

it converts a rusi sprinter 150/dl 150, motoposh dagger 150, suzuki raider 150 into streetfighter setup. all mentioned models look alike but the suzuki raider 150 was the original.

in this installation, we haven’t done any tweaking, pimping, modifying, upgrading, or whaterver-you-wanna-callit mods in the bike’s original setup. not even the tires were changed. we just bolted the kit on and that’s about it!

each has his/her taste in bikes, but this for me, given its new design styling and probably giving a little bit more bling to the colours, would definitety give you a rock-my-world kind of ride — ummm mini crotch-rocket ride!

couldn’t imagine myself running the streets this fast… Isle of Man events show the riders’ different kind of steel nerves — ok balls!

but the best brakes, the best tires won’t save you at these speeds when you begin to spill. good thing mini crotch-rockets don’t go this fast… or else

…but then again, very very uneven flats and wandering dogs in provincial roads would make you think twice! Thanks for the share from a race-dude who apparently “had to wear a helmet while watching this”! ^_^ i agree, jaw-dropping awesome street-speed makes me want to watch this video over and over again.

kawasaki Furious

this is stage 1 of the Kawasaki Fury project. the bike’s owner called the project Furious (for God) as he is a pastor at a local church, and the regional representative here in the south. rightfully so, the name Furious given looks like the bike really always wants to go fast!

comparing it with the stock fury,

you can spot right away the upgrades of this project from the cast wheels, the rear step, to the performance exhaust, and the rear disk brake.

and to complete the whole stage 1 Furious look, we replaced the camel hump of a tank up front with a full-sized fiberglass fuel tank, and connected it with the saddle to really give the rider’s thighs a firm grip. then we cut the tail a little so the rear wheel inches out just a bit further than the tip of the tail; put a flat undertail cover too. then we added cover pieces to the sides to hide the cylinder head assembly but made sure that the airflow would still be optimal. and last but not least of the modifications were the handle bars, converted to clip-ons and fixed them below the fork’s top clamp to help the rider easily make a conventional race stance that’s low at the front.

railing harness development

i developed the railing harness mainly as a first step for converting an underbone/scooter style motorcycle into sportbike/streetbike style. besides giving the bike a fairly real-to-life sportbike frame look, it actually becomes a firm mounting piece of structure for the tank and the seat!

i started with flat fiberglass strips here… first forming the front section all the way down to the swing arm axle. after which, i started forming the seat section and its appropriate lower support.

after having all in place, i started strengthening the structure by adding perpendicular lacing all around.

i also trimmed the structure to make it more proportion to the overall size of the bike.

then i focused on finding ways to strengthen the seat rail. this photo shows one of the variations… by putting a u-box sort of structure in between the seat mount and the actual frame’s steel tube.

here is the final version… one-piece structure. no more bolts that could turn lose. much rigid as well.

it was designed for rider-only seating, a real plus for performance conversions!

A rebel, most of the time, could defy conventional riding, but he — or she — always gives responsibility the utmost concern!

A lot of riders do this — leisurely i might add — please don’t show off while running the risk of being the cause of mishaps for others.

you might be in full control of both your bike and your phone under normal driving circumstances, but abnormalities happen instantly and mostly during times you are so relaxed. and having only one hand to control the handlebar while enjoying a chat is one of THE worst things to indulge in while on the road!

BE RESPONSIBLE MAN!

just as other riders would tell you, if you could afford to buy a bike that expensive, don’t ever say you can’t buy a small piece of life-saving equipment a fraction of your bike’s cost!

can’t resist being a chatterbox then get one of these…

what’s worst than taking a call while riding? hehe..

if getting one hand off the handlebar isn’t dangerous enough, texting while riding also gets both your eyes off the road!

you’re lucky if pedestrians see what you’re doing say while crossing the street, or other riders/drivers crossing an intersection for instance. but what about potholes, open manholes, stray dogs, etc.? and with only one hand gripping the handlebar?

KEEPING AWAY THAT PHONE, is the best assurance you have to arrive safely and economically to your destination. show off go ahead, but not this way, ‘coz it ain’t cool.

Shed Some Light

what are the lights in your motorcycle for? they’re generally used for two things:

1. to aid the rider in seeing things pertinent to his safe riding
2. to communicate his intentions and his presence on the road

headlights…

…are the most effective piece of equipment used when driving at night as poor visibility increases the chances of getting you involved in an accident, moreso starting a

chain of mishaps! choose the best headlights for your type of road conditions, but also check your locality on allowable headlight types. pay close attention to the tilt of the headlight assembly. too much upward tilt and the lights only brighten up the signboards, trees, and stuff instead of the road. too much downward tilt and this lights up only the parts of the road nearest to you.

when do you use bright?

even if you could brightly light up the road, this should not encourage you to go fast…

i guess everyone knows what are (and when to use) normal lights… actually these are called low and high beams. the bright light mode or high beam for me has varied uses. fundamentally it helps establish your presence in poorly visible roads specially for vehicles going the opposite direction. but even if you could brightly light up the road, this should not encourage you to go fast specially when it’s raining or foggy. remember there are other entities with you on the road. the other guys may not see as clearly as you do during these specific situations, and hard-braking on wet roads due to rain or humid roads due to the fog’s mist is next to impossible without you raking a long stretch!

the higher the moving object’s velocity, the shorter time it takes to collide with other objects blocking its path…

in clear nights though, and the more important use i’ve experienced so far is when you’re going fast. it’s simple physics really: the higher the moving object’s velocity is, the shorter time it takes for it to collide with other objects blocking its path. in riders’ terms: when your riding reeaaal fast, dogs, slow-pokes, curve-fences get closer a lot more quickly, and this my friend tends to give you lesser time to react! it’s like, before you even know it’s there, you’re already about to hit it? yeah dude…

seeing things farther away gives you enough time to make good riding decisions…

if you try to see rally car setups, they have these foglamps almost looking like teeth in the car’s face. that’s because the driver has to see clearly what’s way ahead before the car even gets close to these objects. so what does that have to do with the high beam? in the absence of this teeth-like headlight configuration in rally cars, your high beam becomes your best friend because it lets you see things farther than just using your low beam. and seeing things farther away gives you enough time to make good riding decisions specially when going fast.

tail, brake, and turning lights…

ok, the tail light is like a ‘hello’ sign posted at your back. it’s like saying ‘this behind is not for banging!’ because being on a mini crotch-rocket when hit from behind by a car doing a hundred gets you into much much, and i say really big trouble!

headlight=taillight, agreed? okay just imagine this chick having a really worked-out chest and a next-to-flat butt!!

ever played billiards? well here the car is the cue ball, and you the helpless object ball! what i’m trying to say is… if the headlight is important, then the tail and brake lights must be equally important! agreed? okay just imagine seeing this really cool chick walking towards you, having a really worked-out pair of front bumpers! and when she passes by you feel she deserves a second look which you do… you turn your head with a magnetized face following her behind and find in clear view a next-to-flat butt! having all front and no back ain’t right! right dude?

tail and brake lights, i’d even suggest to keep the tail light separate from the brake light, because most of the time drivers at your tail could hardly tell the difference when the guy up front’s hitting the brakes or not specially when headlights from opposite-lane vehicles are too bright.

so the main advantage of using separate tail and brake lights is when you squeeze that brake lever the driver behind sees a different light! like there’s normally one red light then became two of ‘em when you brake. just my two-cents though.

about turning/signal lights: it’s like shouting ‘look out hot rod i’m turning this way!’. it’s a warning, it’s like filing a resignation letter, it’s a heads-up telling other riders or drivers to be careful in passing because you’re bailing out.

only one thing i’d say about turning lights: they should be visible enough from the front, sides, and back, and they should blink! regarding colour, that depends on your taste — and what’s allowed in your locality. so always check on the rules of the locality — your town/city rules — before changing lense colours!

so to sum it up and i’ll repeat my openner… lights on your bike, first of all, should be the most effective and ready means to making your night-riding safe and even enjoyable.

second – but more importantly – it is your most effective and ready means of communicating intentions while on the road. like when you have an idea, a light goes pop in your head? and man, believe it or not it’s like being an instrument to answering someone’s prayers… a ray of light shines bright upon a fellow’s face!
